Your Host for Zimbabwe With Josh
Hi, I'm Josh Strydom. I was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, where I grew up between the bush and the city. My childhood was shaped by safaris on the Zambezi, Sunday afternoons at Picabella Rose Farm (run by my sister Juanita), and the particular wildness of growing up in one of Africa's most beautiful and complicated countries. Zimbabwe is in me in a way that no other place is.
I left to study fine art at Memphis College of Art in Tennessee, where I graduated with a BFA in Photography and Printmaking. After that I kept moving. New York, Prague, Belgrade, Singapore, Bangkok, Lisbon. I've lived in 11 countries and made artwork in 40. I've exhibited internationally for over a decade, worked as an art dealer, and curated shows in cities from Vienna to Singapore.
Today I'm based in Lisbon, Portugal, where I paint most of the time. My work focuses on birds, migration, and belonging. All the things I've been living.
Once or twice a year I go home.
These trips started as something personal and became something I wanted to share. I guide small groups of curious people through the places I know and love, the wildlife, the rivers, the culture, the friends and family who shaped me. You won't get a script. You'll get the Zimbabwe I actually know.
The 2026 trip runs from November 17 to 26. Victoria Falls, Matetsi 6, and a boat game drive on the Chobe River in Botswana. Maximum 12 people.
