Cash, Money, and Tipping

It is almost impossible to get cash inside Zimbabwe. ATMs are scarce and international card machines are unreliable. Arrive in Zimbabwe with enough USD cash for your entire trip.

We recommend bringing at least $800 USD in cash. This covers meals not included in the package, tips, and a few souvenirs. If you plan to do adventure activities in Victoria Falls, add that amount on top.

Tipping is an important part of Zimbabwean culture. A 10% tip is expected at restaurants, lodges, and private houses. Tips for house and lodge staff will be collected on the last day at each location and paid directly to the staff.

Expected tips per location:

Tips

Do I need a Visa or Vaccinations to enter Zimbabwe?

Most nationalities do not require a visa in advance but must purchase one on arrival. Depending on your passport, the cost ranges from $35–70 USD. Check your specific requirements before travelling.

No vaccinations are required for entry to Zimbabwe. However, malaria is present in the Zambezi Valley. It is strongly recommended to take malaria prophylaxis. Speak to your doctor at home at least two weeks before departure, as most prophylaxis must be started before you arrive.
