Game Drives at Matetsi 6: Two Ways to Explore the Wild

At Matetsi 6, we invite you to discover the untamed beauty of the African bush with our signature game drive experiences. Whether you're seeking expert guidance or prefer to explore independently, we offer two unforgettable ways to encounter our extraordinary wildlife.

Guided Game Drives

Embark on a 4-hour guided safari through Matetsi 6’s 700 km² private wildlife reserve with an expert driver and safari guide. You'll journey along our vast network of bush roads and encounter iconic African wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, eland, warthog, hyena, jackal, and more.

This experience includes light snacks (fruit, chips, cookies) and a curated selection of local drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Guided game drives are available in the afternoon/evening for day visitors and at sunrise for overnight guests.

Schedule for Day Visitors:

Optional Lunch 12:00 – 14:00: Enjoy a relaxed meal at the lodge with two included alcoholic beverages (cash bar available for extras)

Game Drive 14:00 – 18:00: Depart at 14:00 and return by 18:00

Sunscreen

A wide-brimmed hat

Binoculars and camera (optional but recommended)

Self-Guided Game Drives (with Park Ranger)

For independent explorers, our self-guided game drive allows you to experience the vast wilderness of Matetsi 6 in your own vehicle—while ensuring safety and support with a mandatory National Parks ranger who accompanies you throughout the journey.

Upon check-in at reception, you’ll receive a detailed route map and meet your assigned ranger. The ranger is equipped with a communication device, crucial in areas without cell service.

Important Requirements:

A 4x4 vehicle is required

You must stay on designated bush roads, clearly marked on the map

The ranger will assist with navigation and provide safety oversight

Optional Add-ons:

Cooler Box Package: Includes snacks and a selection of local drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)

Lunch at the Lodge (12:00 – 14:00): Perfect for those who want to explore in the morning, rest midday, and drive again later

Lunch guests are welcome to enjoy the lodge’s swimming pool and lounge between drives

Available daily

Duration ranges from 2 to 8 hours, depending on your preference and the season

Drives must be completed before sunset
